Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is an amazing substance that has many uses throughout the world. It is basically a solvent made from the sap of trees.

DMSO is a scavenger of the intracellular OH radical believed to be an important trigger of inflammatory process. It is a clear liquid known for its ability to permeate living tissue.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is well known for its solvent properties. It is well absorbed and enhances transcutaneous penetration of drugs.

It is a powerful scavenger of the damaging hydroxyl free radicals in the body which are associated with arthritis. It can prevent free radicals from destroying the lubricating fluid in the joints if used early and regularly in the disease process.

DMSO is also commonly used in veterinary medicine as a liniment for horses, alone or in combination with other ingredients. In the latter case, often, the intended function of the DMSO is as a solvent, to carry the other ingredients across the skin.

Its value is threefold in nature in that as an anti-inflammatory agent or analgesic it seems to reduce swelling, heat and pain and at a very quick rate. DMSO is quickly absorbed through the skin and can carry contaminants and impurities with it.

Although embroiled in controversy early on, DMSO is approved by the FDA for the palliative treatment of interstitial cystitis and for limited veterinary use. It is not allowed for use as a dietary supplement, yet many sufferers, especially those who suffer from arthritis, acquire it and use it as such themselves.

Stinging Nettle is a nutritive that has been used for centuries as a tonic that nourishes and detoxifies the entire system. High in iron content, it is considered beneficial for anemia by building red blood cells; additionally the high vitamin C content ensures that the iron will be absorbed by the body.

Stinging Nettle is often used as a “tonic” to nourish, cleanse and revitalize many different organs and systems within the body. It’s also a great energy and stamina booster

Stinging Nettle is also used to treat cystitis, to prevent and treat kidney stones and to relieve diarrhea.

Traditionally, stinging nettle was used to treat asthma and cough, speed wound healing, encourage gastric juice secretion, and relieve spasms of the digestive tract. When applied to the scalp, it was expected to reduce oiliness and remedy dandruff. Traditional herbalists believed that Nettle tea was a great hair tonic and would bring back the natural color of hair. The leaves are thought to be an excellent blood purifier.

Studies suggest that the root extract may inhibit interaction between a growth factor and its receptor in the prostate. Studies have also shown that the herb makes useful treatment for urinary disorders.

Herbalists have many ways to use nettles medicinally, starting with alopecia due to chemotherapy. One can use nettles both internally and externally to encourage new hair growth.

Herbalists report that nettle tea can improve blood coagulation and hemoglobin formation.

The Awesome Power Of Oregano And The Oil Thereof

NATURE’S ANTI-BIOTIC GARLIC

Oil of oregano is derived from the wild oregano plant—a member of the mint family—that grows naturally in the less-pollution-filled mountains of the Mediterranean region. It is made from the leaves and flowers of the wild oregano plant found growing naturally in the remote mountainous regions of the Mediterranean where there is little pollution.

Oil of Oregano Is A Potent Germ Killer

Jean Valnet, in his book The Practice of Aromatherapy, describes how oil of oregano is so strong that it is capable of sterilizing sewage.

Oil of Oregano has been shown to kill parasites and viruses, bacteria, and some types of fungus, as well as being an antihistamine. It is unequaled in its ability to kill a wide range of microbes and it does not promote microbial resistance. Oil of oregano is also the premier natural antiseptic.

For Colds And Flu

Oil of Oregano is also a strong expectorant, which means that it loosens phlegm and mucous in the sinuses and lungs. As a cold and flu remedy oregano may be unmatched by any other single remedy; that is unmatched by all other single natural or pharmaceutical products on the market.

As A Pain Killer

Oil of oregano is also a powerful pain killer. An article published in Phytotherapy Research describes how oregano oil superceded anti-inflammatory drugs in reversing pain and inflammation and is nearly as powerful as morphine as a pain killer.

Oil of oregano is one of many essential oils – that is, oils that are naturally extracted from a plant. And there are a variety of ways to use oil of oregano in order to get therapeutic effects from it.

The undiluted oil, that is, not mixed with carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil, is very potent, and is usually bottled mixed with olive or coconut oil because of its potency.

The Shocking History of Human Medical Experimentation in the United States

Posted by NatureDoc | Posted in Dangerous Drugs, Medical Controversy, Natural Health News | Posted on 22-12-2008

0

Human experimentation — the practice of subjecting live human beings to science experiments that are sometimes cruel, painful, or deadly — is a major part of U.S. history that you won’t find in most history or science books. It is still continuing today. Here are a few examples, out of many more. They are not for the faint of heart:

1845: J. Marion Sims, later hailed as the “father of gynecology,” performs medical experiments on enslaved African women without anesthesia. These women would usually die of infection soon after surgery. Because of his belief that the movement of newborns’ skull bones during protracted births causes trismus, he uses a shoemaker’s awl, a pointed tool shoemakers use to make holes in leather, to practice moving the skull bones of babies born to enslaved mothers.

1895: New York pediatrician Henry Heiman infects a 4-year-old boy whom he calls “an idiot with chronic epilepsy” with gonorrhea as part of a medical experiment.

1906: Harvard professor Dr. Richard Strong infects prisoners in the Philippines with cholera to study the disease; 13 of them die. He compensates survivors with cigars and cigarettes. During the Nuremberg Trials, Nazi doctors cite this study to justify their own medical experiments.

1919: Researchers perform testicular transplant experiments on inmates at San Quentin State Prison in California, inserting the testicles of recently executed inmates and goats into the abdomens and scrotums of living prisoners.

1931: Cornelius Rhoads, a pathologist from the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, purposely infects human test subjects in Puerto Rico with cancer cells; 13 of them die. Though Rhoads gives a written testimony stating he believes that all Puerto Ricans should be killed, he later goes on to establish the U.S. Army Biological Warfare facilities in Maryland, Utah and Panama, and is named to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, where he begins a series of radiation exposure experiments on American soldiers and civilian hospital patients.

1932: The U.S. Public Health Service in Tuskegee, Ala. diagnoses 400 poor, black sharecroppers with syphilis but never tells them of their illness nor treats them; instead researchers use the men as human guinea pigs to follow the symptoms and progression of the disease. They all eventually die from syphilis and their families are never told that they could have been treated.

1939: In order to test his theory on the roots of stuttering, prominent speech pathologist Dr. Wendell Johnson performs his famous “Monster Experiment” on 22 children at the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans’ Home in Davenport. Dr. Johnson and his graduate students put the children under intense psychological pressure, causing them to switch from speaking normally to stuttering heavily.

1944: As part of the Manhattan Project that would eventually create the atomic bomb, researchers inject 4.7 micrograms of plutonium into soldiers at the Oak Ridge facility, 20 miles west of Knoxville, Tennessee.

1956: U.S. Army covert biological weapons researchers release mosquitoes infected with yellow fever and dengue fever over Savannah, Georgia, and Avon Park, Florida, to test the insects’ ability to carry disease. These experiments result in a high incidence of fevers, respiratory distress, stillbirths, encephalitis and typhoid among the two cities’ residents, as well as several deaths.

1962: Researchers at the Laurel Children’s Center in Maryland test experimental acne antibiotics on children and continue their tests even after half of the young test subjects develop severe liver damage because of the experimental medication .

1963: Chester M. Southam, who injected Ohio State Prison inmates with live cancer cells in 1952, performs the same procedure on 22 senile, African-American female patients at the Brooklyn Jewish Chronic Disease Hospital in order to watch their immunological response. Southam tells the patients that they are receiving “some cells,” but leaves out the fact that they are cancer cells. He claims he doesn’t obtain informed consent from the patients because he does not want to frighten them by telling them what he is doing, but he nevertheless temporarily loses his medical license because of it. Ironically, he eventually becomes president of the American Cancer Society.

1987: Philadelphia resident Doris Jackson discovers that researchers have removed her son’s brain post mortem for medical study. She later learns that the state of Pennsylvania has a doctrine of “implied consent,” meaning that unless a patient signs a document stating otherwise, consent for organ removal is automatically implied.

1994: In a double-blind experiment at New York VA Hospital, researchers take 23 schizophrenic inpatients off of their medications for a median of 30 days. They then give 17 of them 0.5 mg/kg amphetamine and six a placebo as a control. According to the researchers, the purpose of the experiment was “to specifically evaluate metabolic effects in subjects with varying degrees of amphetamine-induced psychotic exacerbation”.

1995: A 19-year-old University of Rochester student named Nicole Wan dies from participating in an MIT-sponsored experiment that tests airborne pollutant chemicals on humans. The experiment pays $150 to human test subjects.

2003: Two-year-old Michael Daddio of Delaware dies of congestive heart failure. After his death, his parents learn that doctors had performed an experimental surgery on him when he was five months old, rather than using the established surgical method of repairing his congenital heart defect that the parents had been told would be performed. The established procedure has a 90- to 95-percent success rate, whereas the inventor of the new procedure would later be fired from his hospital.

Give Your Prostate These Nutrients

Vegetable intake by itself – when analyzed separately from fruit intake – was clearly found to be protective against Benign Prostate Enlargement (BPH). This vegetable intake increased in its health value when the vegetables involved were rich sources of vitamin C or some of the carotenoid nutrients (beta-carotene, lutein, or zeaxanthin). Vegetables like broccoli are helpful in the prevention of heart disease and cancer. This veggie is loaded with vitamin C, beta-carotene, potassium and sulphoraphane, which protects against prostate and colon cancers.

Lycopene

Lycopene works as an antioxidant and it may help reduce DNA damage that occurs from toxins and oxidants. Furthermore, lycopene inhibits prostatic IGF-I signaling, IL-6 expression (interleukin), and androgen signaling. Lycopene is also an antioxidant.

Antioxidants are natural cancer-fighting agents found in fruits, vegetables, tea, and soy. Lycopene and other carotenoids serve as a key source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that can prevent or delay the oxidation of other substances and may protect against chronic disease (Institute of Medicine, 2000 p 35-57).

Lycopene is a phytochemical that is found in certain fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and grapefruits. Tomatoes also contain significant quantities of potassium, as well as some vitamin A and vitamin E.

One of Lycopene’s major functions in the body is protection from prostate cancer. Lycopene, like other carotenoids, is fat-soluble, which means it is not well absorbed without fat.

Vitamin D

Studies suggest that activated vitamin D may be broken down in the prostate, where it may play a role in preventing cancer…

Studies have shown that a particularly active form of vitamin D known as 1,25(OH)2D3 can protect against growth of prostate cancer cells. However, increased intake of calcium lowers the vitamin D levels in the body, and therefore minimizes its protective effects.

Studies from Harvard School of public Health show that men who drink more than four glasses of milk a day have low blood levels of vitamin D, and are at increased risk for prostate cancer.

Calcium uses up vitamin D and not enough vitamin D is added to milk to cover the extra calcium used.

It has been suggested that Vitamin D may be more protective against aggressive (advanced-stage) than non-aggressive prostate cancer. Also, the optimal level of vitamin D to confer protection against prostate cancer is not known.

Candida…And The Natural Remedies That People Use

Posted by NatureDoc | Posted in Foods That Heal, Herbs That Heal, Hormones and Heealth, Natural Antibiotics, Natural Pain Relief, Natural Remedies For infections, Natural Remedies For Yeast Infection | Posted on 19-12-2008

Candida is a parasitic type fungus that inhabits the intestines, genital tract, mouth, esophagus, and throat. Normally this fungus lives in healthy balance with the other bacteria and yeasts in the body, however, certain conditions can cause it to multiply, weaken the immune system and cause an acute infection. Candida esophagitis can also lead to oral thrush as the yeast infection spreads up the gut into the mouth. Candida can also cause diaper rash.

Candida, or Candidiasis as it is more properly called, is sometimes confused with other infections of the genital in both women and men.

Discover the Astonishing Power Of Herbs With Herbal Secrets Uncovered Click Here

CAUSES

Candida overgrowth tends to occur as a result of antibiotic use, hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause, illness, or stress. Candida is a common cause of vaginal infections in women, and Candida may cause mouth infections in people with reduced immune function, or in patients taking certain antibiotics. Candida can be found in virtually all normal people, but causes problems in only a fraction.

Candida lives inside the bodies of up to 75% of the population, but under normal conditions it is kept in check by ‘good bacteria’ in the body.

Candida lives naturally on the skin, in the bowel and in the vagina. Sometimes it starts to grow rapidly and causes a rash (thrush).

Babies are more likely to contract thrush due to their weaker immune systems; especially during the course of another disease. —Babies are sometimes treated with acidophilus diluted in breast milk swabbed in their mouths, or a finger is dipped in the powder and the baby allowed to suck. The intent of acidophilus treatment is to rebalance the body.

Many people use yogurt with live cultures as home remedies for thrush…garlic having antifungal properties is one of the other natural substances widely used to cure thrush.

Acidophilus as noted above, in the form of tablets, capsules, or liquids is one of the other widely used home remedies for thrush.

Other remedies used include apple cider vinegar, and oil of oregano…

A healthy prostate is about the size of a walnut…in fact it is when the prostate grows too large, that it most often affects the flow of the urine …Doctors, by inserting the finger into the anus, can detect anomalies that may be associated with an unhealthy prostate .

A healthy prostate is essential for the proper functioning of the urinary and reproductive systems. If you are a male over 40 years of age, it is especially  important to help your body support a healthy prostate. A healthy prostate is triangular in shape and 2-4 cm long. It will feel firm and rubbery.

By age sixty, the prostate is one of the most prevalent health problems for men. A healthy prostate is essential to every man’s well being. Yet most men don’t give the prostate much thought, until a problem develops.

As stated above a healthy prostate is approximately the size of a walnut. It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. Male hormones (androgens, particularly testosterone) normally produced by the body stimulate the growth of the prostate. Keeping your prostate healthy is of the utmost importance. Men suffering from prostatitis often suffer from sexual dysfunction, difficulty urinating and even chronic abdominal and back pain!

Moreover prostate health is essential for long-term sexual pleasure and function. …so remember to keep your prostate healthy…yep we know the routine…exercise, fresh air, eat less and less meat(especially red meat) and dairy products. Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables…especially tomato sauce, handle your stress, etc.

Make sure you have a healthy prostate and your prostate will make sure that you have health…as far as its concerned.

Valerian Root The Calming Herb

Posted by NatureDoc | Posted in Herbs That Heal, Insomnia, Natural Pain Relief, Natural Remedies For High Blood Pressure/Hypertension, Stress Remedies, The Mind In Healing | Posted on 17-12-2008

Valerian root is harvested from a perennial plant native to Europe that also grows wild along roadsides in the northeastern United States. This herb contains numerous active compounds, including sesquiterpenes, valeportriates and alkaloids that appear to work together to provide Valerian`s calming, relaxing effects.

Valerian root is contained in some well known European sleeping aids, some of which have been proven to be effective. The herb is also recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a mild hypotensive (blood pressure lowering) herb.

Valerian root has been used by herbalist for ages for the purpose of relieving acute stress, anxiety, pain and spasm. The type of person that seems to benefit the most from Valerian’s effects are those who tend to hold everything inside, with all the mental and physical (especially muscular) tension that results.

Valerian Root is a strong herbal nervine. It is well-known for its sleep enhancing properties and its calming effects.

It is not addictive like valium and therefore a person does not build a tolerance to it and doses do not have to be increased over time—Valerian root does not need a prescription.

Short term studies of Valerian Root, lasting up to two weeks, suggest success in treating some types of insomnia, particularly those related to anxiety, nervousness, or stress, such as a fitful, restless sleep with frequent arousals. The long-term effect of the herb has not been studied in a scientific setting…however, as noted earlier, herbalist have used it for ages with good results. Interestingly…Valerian root is said to be the only herb with some data to show that it helps treat insomnia.

Studies reveal that Valerian root is a natural sedative and aids some people in maintaining a healthy, deep sleep.

Studies into Valerian’s safety over the long term have not been undertaken, but side effects using Valerian root are rare. Valerian appears to work best when taken for several weeks or more, although some Valerian users find it works for them right away.

Research has demonstrated that neither single nor repeated evening administrations of Valerian Root have a negative impact on reaction time, alertness or concentration the day after use. Researchers observed significant improvements in subjects’ ability to fall asleep and sleep through the night and a decreased level of fatigue after 14 days of treatment.

Using herbs, and herbal type remedies for acne have proven to many people that herbal remedies are defiantly the way to go when it comes to solving your acne troubles. When you are using herbs for acne you have to bear in mind that the liver is the most important organ for the body to combat acne. Herbs for acne exist and they are meant to kill the bacteria on the body

A correct and consistent use of Herbal acne treatments could be just the thing that is needed to get rid of those unsightly blemishes caused by acne.

Herbal remedies for acne and other natural remedies are the most popular and safest alternative treatment for acne. Herbal acne remedies aim to address the cause of acne, which most holistic practitioners view as a symptom of underlying health problems—

Most holistic practitioners readily hold that hormonal imbalances, poor digestion, sluggish liver and bowel function, and nutritional deficiencies all contribute to acne.

Various herbs like Aloe Vera, sarsaparilla, sandalwood along with tea tree oil have been proved to be the best herbs for acne.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil can, which is very widely used can be applied directly to breakouts but may need to be diluted for those with sensitive skin. Fresh cabbage juice, which is more gentle, could in fact be a better option for people with sensitive skin.

Tea tree oil was used as the primary ingredient in researches focusing on the effectiveness of aromatherapy for acne control, prevention, and treatment. Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tree and has strong antibacterial properties.

Tea Tree Oil is considered to be a natural antiseptic and is not only used for skin irritations and acne but is often considered to promote hair growth in the scalp and has been known to produce wonderful results.

Tea Tree oil, is also germicidal, anti-viral, anti-fungal —

So remember when everything is working smoothly, the sebaceous glands produce the right amount of oil, and you don’t get pimples or acne. However, there’s a fine balancing act between your skin, your lymphatic system, and your hormonal regulation going on—not to mention the food that you eat the stress of life, exercise etc.

Hundreds Die In Failed Diabetes Drug Test

Discover the Astonishing Power Of Herbs With Herbal Secrets Uncovered Click Here

The nation’s Institutes of Health’s National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute has declared the early cancellation of one part of a major diabetes and heart illness study after discovering that patients undergoing that treatment were much more likely to die from coronaries and strokes.

The Action to manage Heart Risk in Diabetes ( ACCORD ) study included 10,251 adults with Type two diabetes who were thought to be at particularly high risk of coronaries and strokes.

One of the treatments in the study concerned using mixes of FDA-approved diabetes drugs to aggressively lower participants’ blood sugar to levels as near to standard as feasible. “Of these, 257 in the radical treatment group have died, compared to 203 in the standard treatment group,” the NIH claimed. The NIH recounted that it doesn’t know what led to the increased risk of death among patients undergoing in depth treatment, but it doesn’t believe the risk came from any individual drug or blend of drugs. Rather, there would appear to be some negative effect on the body from so aggressively lowering blood sugar levels.

“This presents a genuine quandary to patients and their physicians,” recounted Richard Kahn, chief systematic and medical officer for the Yank Diabetes organization. The raised blood sugar that is characteristic of the illness is well-established to guide to a bunch of other health problems, including a raised risk of cardiovascular illness, coronary and stroke.

Roughly twenty-one million individuals in the U. S. suffer from type II diabetes, and the numbers increase each year. The raised blood sugar that is characteristic of the disease is well-established to lead to a large number of other health issues, including an elevated risk of cardio illness, coronary and stroke.
