Of the many regular cough remedies on the market many may contain pain relievers that have anti-inflammatory properties to reduce fevers, and body aches and pains. These pain relievers however are drugs—which often have dangerous side-effects.

In fact (especially in light in current revelations) cough remedies continue to struggle to gain consumer confidence in the face of questions regarding their effectiveness. Indeed, it is the case that national agencies are advising consumers that the overall documented evidence of cough remedies’ effectiveness is weak.

Natural Cough Remedies

Therefore natural cough remedies emerge as being viable and effective alternatives to the drug based cough remedies. Let’s look at just a few of the natural cough remedies…

Lobelia- Lobelia is a herbal remedy that has the ability, when a few drops of the extract are placed under the tongue, to relax the cough muscles and may even loosen mucous…it is necessary to drink plenty of water to prevent the mucous from becoming too thick.

Natural Cough Syrup- An excellent cough syrup is made when you combine equal parts of lemon juice, and honey with a little cayenne pepper into a tea…taking 1 teaspoon when needed.

Flax Seed- Another remedy is made by making a thick flaxseed tea with 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil …this is then taken slowly.

Almond -Almond oil is valuable for whooping cough. It should be mixed with 10 drops each of onion juice and ginger juice and taken three times daily.

Ginger- Ginger is an excellent remedy for cough. It’s s stimulating properties increase circulation and help loosen phlegm. A strong ginger tea taken 2-3 times daily for cough is sure to be effective.

Licorice Tea -Licorice tea is an alternative cough remedy. Licorice has antibacterial properties that aid the body in the struggle against any bacteria that may be causing the cough. It also soothes the throat and calms the respiratory tract.

Finally one last cough remedy that has been used effectively goes as follows: Add two tablespoons of glycerin and two tablespoons of honey to lemon juice. Take 1 teaspoonful daily.

I have listed only a fraction of the numerous natural cough remedies available…but they are extremely effective…use them!
