Oil of oregano is derived from the wild oregano plant—a member of the mint family—that grows naturally in the less-pollution-filled mountains of the Mediterranean region. Oil of oregano is one of many essential oils – that is, oils that are naturally extracted from a plant. And there are a variety of ways to use oil of oregano in order to get therapeutic effects from it.

The undiluted oil, that is, not mixed with carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil, is very potent, and is usually bottled mixed with olive or coconut oil because of its potency.
