Symptoms Of Heartburn
Those who suffer from heartburn usually experience a feeling of burning liquid coming up from the stomach to the throat. This backing- up action is called reflux, thus we hear the term, “Acid Reflux Disease”
Included in these juices that “reflux” up into the esophagus is the powerful hydrochloric acid. This acid is so powerful that it is used in industry to clean metal! When this acid comes into contact with the walls of the esophagus it burns them. Chronic heartburn can therefore scar the esophagus. The acid can also make its way into the lungs and cause asthma-like symptoms to develop. Chronic heartburn is officially recognized as GERD—(gastroesophageal reflux disease).
Some Causes
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite Proverbs 23:2
Some causes of heartburn include dehydration, excessive consumption of fatty or fried foods, alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, chocolate, carbonated beverages, or having too much food in the stomach. For some people citrus fruits or tomato -based foods cause it. Other contributing factors include: hiatal hernia, allergies, stress, gallbladder problems, and enzyme deficiencies.
Having a lack of stomach acid can cause similar problems. Those who are over 50 years of age have similar symptoms…which are similar to having too much acid. These symptoms include bloating, belching, and other symptoms of heartburn.
If you are having these symptoms lemon juice and water should be taken with the meal, if the symptoms continue even after taking this, then the stomach is making too much acid.

2) Drink some raw potato juice, cut an unpeeled potato up and blend it in a blender and drink.
3) Eat a stalk of raw celery…many have received relief from heartburn in a matter of minutes with this remedy.
3) Make a cup of peppermint tea, it is excellent for heartburn.
4) Fill the bottom of a small glass with Lemon Juice, then dilute it with anywhere from roughly half to a quarter full with water. Then drink it down all at once.
5) Eat a handful of raw almonds, many people find that this will stop heartburn dead in its tracks.
6) There are also some herbs that are very helpful for heartburn like Ginger, Cayenne, Angelica, Gentian etc.
Long Term Measures
1) Drink plenty of water daily, placing a pinch of pure sea salt per quart of water that you drink.-Stay hydrated.
2) Lose weight if you are overweight…the pressure of excess weight causes heartburn more often.
3) Eat more raw vegetables, chew your food thoroughly, and eat slowly with small mouthfuls.
4) Avoid spices, chocolates, and mints, avoid caffeinated drinks for they will irritate the esophagus even more. Caffeine relaxes the sphincter, thus allowing the contents of the stomach to come up. Avoid smoking, greasy, fatty and fried foods as well as flesh food and diary products.
5) Antidepressants and sedatives aggravate heartburn while Aspirin and ibuprofen cause heartburn.
6) Antacids only mask the symptoms, they also contain aluminum(which is highly suspect in Alzheimer’s disease). Additionally they interfere with the body’s ability to digest and absorb food.
